Christopher was commissioned by Emirates Airlines to write and record a new symphonic suite based on Emirates' sonic logo, for special performance at the Dubai Fountain, the world's largest interactive fountain. Working closely with the choreography team at WET Design, Christopher created a four-minute international, celebratory piece, carefully synchronized to the jets of the fountain.
The process of recording the piece was a highly international affair. As a client of Emirates, he was given unlimited Business Class travel to anywhere he wanted to go to record the project, and so he elected to work with two of his favorite ensembles: the Soweto Gospel Choir, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Over the course of 13 days, he flew from Los Angeles to Dubai, to London, back to Dubai, to Johannesburg, and back to Dubai and Los Angeles... over 32,000 miles of distance traveled.
