First performed as part of a full live performance of 'To Shiver the Sky' on May 15, 2022 at The Anthem in Washington D.C., by the US Air Force Band, Choral Arts Society of Washington, and ModernMedieval, conducted by Christopher Tin. First performance of the standalone version of 'Courage' by Danielle de Niese at the Davos World Economic Forum Opening Concert, January 20, 2025. Commissioned by Dr. Timothy M. Hsia as a tribute to his late grandfather, Philip Y. C. Hsia, a pilot in the Second World War with the Flying Tigers.
PROGRAM NOTES
Long before Amelia Earhart become an aviation icon, she wanted to be a poet. Her poem 'Courage' was one of her first published writings.
